An economics reporter who doesn't get economics

Fascinating story about a NY Times economics reporter who got way in over his head with credit cards and a mortgage he couldn't afford.

Excerpted from his upcoming book (let's hope that allows him to pay some things off), this story is almost painful to read in its honesty. The guy knows he was an idiot, yet he did these things, anyway, and he spills them on the page as if he's at the confessional.

I read this article last week and it made quite the impression on me. In a way, it's nice to know even "professionals" get stuck. But I don't wish anyone to be in this type of situation, except maybe certain Wall St executives and Bernie Madoff (because of the charities he ripped off--not the rich investors).
