Powers remembered

Powers was a giant shopping presence in Highland Park, near my high school for years. Then it was Donaldson's, then Carsons, and various friend of mine or their relatives worked there off and on.

Now it's gone, and there's a Barnes & Noble and some eateries there. At least it didn't become an empty lot, or worse -- condos, as have taken over every square foot of my neighborhood here in Seattle.
