Things I've learned

Over at my MSNBC.com Weblog, Test Pattern, I am sharing things I have learned from this summer's best and worst commercial contest. Including the fact that PEOPLE WHO LIKE THE PLASTIC-HEADED BURGER KING OFTEN WRITE IN ALL CAPS.

I'm surprised that people who like the plastic-headed Burger King are capable of writing at all! (And I don't get the Snickers commercial, either.)

Darn the Happy California Cows add didn't make the favorites? I love their newest add about the Earthquake Induced Hoof Massages.

What's wrong with my computer that I can't access the article? I get the site (and the ads on the site). Sometimes I refresh and I get the start of the article but when it says STORY CONTINUES BELOW (advertisement) mine never does. It's been happening more and more frequently with that page for whatever reason...what am I doing wrong?

Laura: Are you on a Mac or PC? What browser? The site often does not work well in Macs or with older browsers.

I just got to read it...while at work...for the government...just ratted myself out, huh?

I have a PC...with XP.

If it helps, I think it seems to be the ad for SBC/dish network always tripping me up. As long as its another ad I can see the rest of the article.

Kind of ironic I'm having problems with an ad...huh?

Does anyone else agree with me that the Pepto-Bismol commercial is one that would've gone over very well in 1975? It really has the feel of a commercial from my childhood. Dunno why.

I agree with the results. I HATE the tampon commercial. Really, I hate all tampon commercials, especially the ones with the girl wearing all white. Anyone dumb enough to wear white pants anywhere near the day her period starts deserves embarassing stains (yes, I'm a girl).

I love the dancing elephant commercial.

What I wonder, sort of like Gael wondered about the use of "Push It" in a commercial, is if the parents watching the new Target campaign know the real words to "Baby Got Back." Because every time I hear that commercial, I start to sing "I like big butts and I can not lie...." until I've gotten through a whole verse of the song.

I don't dislike the "tampon in a boat" commercial as much as I dislike a particular maxi pad commercial. The first time I saw it, I almost couldn't believe my eyes. I turned to the person next to me and said, "Did she just smack herself on both lapels with a wet maxi pad?" Of course they were using that blue liquid, but it was still gross.

My "favorite" is still the Dove deodorant ad where they use the tagline, "puts back what shaving takes away." Uh... the hair?
