Hooray! According to this job ad, there'll be a Penzey's Spicesopening in Seattle sometime soon. It's about time! I always mean to load up on spices when I go home to Mpls., but good luck packing weird smelly powders in your luggage.
But we already have a FANTASTIC spice store here in Seattle - World Spice Merchants on Western behind the market. If you haven't been, it's amazing. They even do old-fashioned online ordering, where you tell them what you want, then they send you spices and an invoice and you send them a check. It's a great store.
I'm an entertainment editor at MSNBC.com, and have maintained Pop Culture Junk Mail since August, 1999. The New York Times called the site "one of the best places to explore pop culture online," and Entertainment Weekly included it on their Top 100 Web Sites list. If you like weird food, strange products, and 1970s and 1980s nostalgia, PCJM is your home away from home.
I have a brand new BOOK, written with Brian Bellmont. "Whatever Happened to Pudding Pops? The Lost Toys, Tastes and Trends of the '70s and '80s." Buy it online, and follow our retro reminiscing on our GenXtinct blog,Facebook, and Twitter.

there is a Penzy's in Portland right now, if that helps!
I highly recommend the Country French Vinaigrette salad dressing mix. Makes a fantastic pasta salad.
I had never heard of Penzey's until I flipped past "America's Test Kitchen" on PBS Saturday. Their cinnamon was the winner of ATK's taste test.

There's a Penzey's in my small town, and I always walk out of there with at least double the number of bottles that I went in for.
