Spicing it up

Hooray! According to this job ad, there'll be a Penzey's Spices opening in Seattle sometime soon. It's about time! I always mean to load up on spices when I go home to Mpls., but good luck packing weird smelly powders in your luggage.

I highly recommend the Country French Vinaigrette salad dressing mix. Makes a fantastic pasta salad.

I had never heard of Penzey's until I flipped past "America's Test Kitchen" on PBS Saturday. Their cinnamon was the winner of ATK's taste test.

But we already have a FANTASTIC spice store here in Seattle - World Spice Merchants on Western behind the market. If you haven't been, it's amazing. They even do old-fashioned online ordering, where you tell them what you want, then they send you spices and an invoice and you send them a check. It's a great store.

There's a Penzey's in my small town, and I always walk out of there with at least double the number of bottles that I went in for.
